Thuringia: WB reappointed as the official foreign representative for India
The Free State of Thuringia has also appointed WB as the official foreign affairs representative for India for the year 2024. Dr. Wamser + Batra GmbH is pleased to announce its reappointment as “Official Foreign Representative for India.” For 2024, WB plans to further intensify the support of Thuringian companies in India to implement successful projects in the cluster structures of Thuringian industry, in particular optics and optoelectronics, mechanical and plant engineering, medical technology, automotive as well as micro- and nanotechnology. A special focus will be on the areas of purchasing/sourcing, development and expansion of local value creation with assembly/production as well as the recruitment of skilled workers.
WB has been the International Representative for India for 7 consecutive years
Since 2016, Dr. Wamser + Batra GmbH (WB), represented by Managing Director Mike D. Batra, has been the official International Representative for India of Thüringen International, the economic development initiative of the State Development Corporation of Thuringia (LEG) on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Science and Digital Society of the Free State of Thuringia (TMWWDG). In this role, WB has since advised and supported around 80 Thuringian companies in connection with the Indian market and has carried out several delegation trips and trade fair participations.
Individual support in different phases of market development
The support was provided to Thuringian companies in various phases of market development. It ranged from consultations to individual market research, establishing contact with Indian partners and customers as well as reviewing them, to consulting and implementation on various sales, legal, or administrative issues. With the support of WB, Thuringian companies founded subsidiaries and joint ventures in India, among other things.
For further support in the development and processing of the Indian market as well as the maintenance of existing cooperations, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and LEG Thüringen/Thüringen International have now again appointed WB as a permanent contact person for Thuringian companies for the year 2024. The focus is on comprehensive support and regular advice both in Germany and through WB’s five Indian offices (New Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Navi Mumbai, and Chennai), coupled with concrete approaches for efficient market access.
Advantages for Thuringian companies
After a detailed needs analysis with the Thuringian companies, the WB team in India regularly collects data and information on relevant product areas and market participants of the companies and then evaluates them. The focus here is on the industry clusters that are important for Thuringia, such as optics/optoelectronics, metal processing, mechanical engineering, life sciences, the automotive industry, the food industry, and micro- and nanotechnology. As part of the information collection, informal discussions are also held with industry associations and government institutions as well as with customers, cooperation partners, employees, and competitors in India who are of interest to the individual Thuringian companies.
This information then supports Thuringian companies in their decision-making regarding the choice of the right form of presence on-site as well as in the subsequent implementation of a sales partner search or the establishment of suitable structures (such as a subsidiary or liaison office). Furthermore, WB Thuringian enables companies to employ and support Indian sales staff, whereby WB often assumes a supervisory function and, if necessary, offers business center workstations in the Indian offices as well as regular progress checks.
The WB team on-site in India also regularly monitors tenders and projects that could be of interest to Thuringian companies and informs the companies as well as LEG Thüringen / Thüringen International about current project opportunities in the Indian market. Regular industry updates, which the team compiles, also help Thuringian companies assess the opportunities in certain areas.
An exciting year with new opportunities and challenges awaits the companies of the Free State of Thuringia and WB. The conditions for investing in India have never been better than now.
